             abstract = "One analysis of the changes of land cover over the time may 
                         provide subsidies for the study and planning of the use and 
                         occupancy of the soil. According Paranhos Filho (2000) the 
                         multi-temporal evaluations of a region is a process by which it is 
                         possible to assess the variation of certain information in this 
                         region over the time. The objective of this work is the 
                         application of the technique of segmentation in the Spring 4.3.3 
                         (C{\^a}mara et al., 1996), for assessment of multi-temporal 
                         vegetative cover of the Basin of the Ceroula, using a methodology 
                         for use of satellite images in a GIS - Geographic Information 
                         System, in three distinct seasons, 1985, 1997 and 2007. The study 
                         showed a marked reduction in the total of natural areas (from 40% 
                         to 28% in the region), especially in areas containing Cerrado, and 
                         increasing the presence of covers of soil related to human 
                         activities, mainly cattle raising. The methodology has been 
                         applied successfully by setting up an alternative low-cost and 
                         obtaining information in a short space of time.",
